Hathaway’s comedy lands at Warner Bros
‘The Shower’ will feature award-winning actor in titular role.
Warner Bros is in final negotiations for the Anne Hathaway-starring sci-fi action comedy The Shower, The Hollywood Reporter said.
Hathaway is attached to star in and produce Jac Schaeffer’s script, which made last year’s Blacklist, the annual listing of best not-yet made screenplays in Hollywood.
The project is described as being tonally in the vein of the Seth Rogen apocalypse comedy This is the End, cult hit Attack the Block and Kristen Wiig-Melissa McCarthy’s Bridesmaids.
Harrison Ford reveals why he learned to fly
The story is set at a baby shower that gets upstaged by a massive meteor shower. These meteors, however, bring with them blood-sucking aliens from outer space that crash the party.
Hathaway’s husband Adam Shulman is producing along with Andrew Lauren and DJ. Gugenheim. Lauren is the head of Andrew Lauren Productions with Gugenheim, the company’s production president. Schaeffer will also produce. Chantal Nong and Nik Mavinkurve will oversee for the studio.
The sci-fi comedy seems to be a departure for Hathaway, known for roles in films such as the recently released comedy The Intern and the upcoming Alice Through the Looking Glass. But she’s also filming another interesting sci-fi action film called Colossal, about a woman who discovers that severe catastrophic events are somehow connected to the mental breakdown from which she’s suffering.
