Umer and Mariam Maskatiya tell us about their first memories of eachother

Umer and Mariam Maskatiya tell us about their similarities to Tom and Jerry, bringing home a dog without notice and the fact that though Umer may have almost broken Mariam’s nose off, the siblings still cannot live without each other

What’s your first memory of each other?

Umer: My first memory would have to be when she was born. I remember walking into this hospital room and there she was, this little thing I thought I was going to terrorize. It turned out to be the other way around.

Mariam: He kept a huge box of Candyland jelly bottles under my pillow, and pretended that the tooth fairy kept it there! Keep in mind; this is after first breaking my tooth by mistake, and taking me for ice cream afterwards so that I would stop crying. I did wake up super happy though!

What is the craziest thing you have done together?

Umer: The craziest thing we have probably ever done was getting a dog without telling our parents. They were NOT happy!

Mariam: We were wrestling and he almost broke my nose off! He still tries to wrestle me.

What did you get punished for the most as a child?

Umer: Breaking everything. I’m a total klutz!

Mariam: Bullying Umer. I never really stopped though.

If you could only wear one piece of clothing for the rest of your life, from the others closet, what would it be?

Umer: Seeing how organized her closet is, I wouldn’t want to mess with her clothes.

Mariam: His hoodies!

If you could swap places with each other, what’s the first thing you would you do?

Umer: Tell our parents that it was her idea to get the dog!

Mariam: Organize EVERYTHING he owns!

What is the one thing you love about your sister/brother?

Umer: Her compassion for others.

Mariam: He’s the best brother and friend a girl could ever ask for.

If you are fighting with each other, how do you make up?

Umer: Bribe her with food.

Mariam: We usually don’t fight for too long, and it usually only takes a hug to fix things. If that doesn’t work, then he has to pamper me for a few days.

What is one secret talent your sister/brother has, that you wish you did too?

Umer: Definitely her dancing skills. I have two left feet!

Mariam: I wish I could be as friendly as him.

Describe your sister/brother in three words.

Umer: It’s tough to pick only three words, but if I had to, they would be compassionate, generous and hard working!

Mariam: I could write a book on this one, but in a nutshell, he is caring, loving and CRAZY!

Which fictional character is your sister/ brother most like?

Umer: She would definitely be Jerry, and I would be Tom.

Mariam: Goofy!

How are your personalities similar?

Umer: We are both stubborn!

Mariam: We are both exceptionally lazy.

I can’t live without my sister/brother because…

Umer: She reminds me everyday of how important family is.

Mariam: He’s my best friend. Life would not be the same without him always looking out for me and being there for me.
