KARACHI:
The opening ceremony of the eighth SZABIST Model United Nations (Zabmun) commenced on Thursday with high spirited cheers from the delegates of various institutions, as the hosts took the stage and spoke of this year's objective to initiate dialogue and advocate diversity.

The delegates were eager to begin this year's four-day conference and showcase their skills and hard work. The president of Szabist, Shehnaz Wazir Ali, addressed the delegates and spoke of how the youth has access to instant knowledge from all over the globe, which brings with it a sense responsibility over the current issues in the world.

The chief guest, Tooba Iqbal of the WWF, spoke about the importance of communication as a skill necessary for the leaders of tomorrow saying, "Addressing a crowd becomes an art". She spoke of the collaborative effort with Zabmun-VIII that has helped create a platform for champions. Iqbal mentioned the development of 32 different projects handled by WWF to protect various species and the environment and claimed that it is these champions that lead to long-lasting positive change.

The Zabmun faculty adviser, Kumail Raza Hemani, commended the consistent efforts of the organising team, as well as everyone who supported the conference.
