Heavy fines were imposed on them, while cases were also filed against some shop owners

More than a dozen shopkeepers were arrested in Shergarh following a raid by officials of the food department on Wednesday. Mardan Deputy Food Controller Muhammad Hashim Khan directed the food inspectors to carry out raids in different areas of Shergarh to check food quality, hygiene and the sale of meat on prohibited days. The food department team conducted raids and arrested more than a dozen shopkeepers, including butchers. Heavy fines were imposed on them, while cases were also filed against some shop owners. Meanwhile, officials warned the shopkeepers to follow the procedure and policies of the food department or they will have to face the consequences.
