Exports: ‘Kinnows’ consignments arrive in Jakarta

The export of Kinnow from Pakistan to Indonesia was expected to reach 50,000 tons during the present season

ISLAMABAD:
Pakistani Kinnow (Orange) consignments have started arriving in Jakarta, Indonesia, through Tanjung Priok Port and in Surabaya. The first consignment arrived in the third week of December 2015. Kinnow is being sold daily in grocery markets and all the leading hyper markets, super markets and retail chains including Carrefour, Ranch Market, Giant, Hypermart, Farmer’s Market, Food Hall and Lotte’ Mart of Indonesia, according to a message received here from Jakarta on Wednesday. The export of Kinnow from Pakistan to Indonesia was expected to reach 50,000 tons during the present season, which began in December 2015 and will end in April 2016. To ensure continuation of Kinnow export to Indonesia, the Pakistan Embassy in Jakarta arranged a visit by the Indonesian Agriculture Quarantine Agency team to Pakistan in November 2015 to renew Pest Free Area Recognition for Pakistan’s Kinnow and inspected six Pakistani laboratories for registration.
