HARIPUR:

The mother of a 15-year-old girl who said she was gang-raped accused police officials of tampering with the medical report and evidence to protect the culprits, one of whom is a cop.

Speaking to the media in Haripur on Tuesday, Sajida Bibi endorsed her daughter Alia Bibi’s* statement. Sajida Bibi accused Constable Saeed and his two friends Naveed and Raja Yasir of raping Alia Bibi on Sunday.

Sajida Bibi said the accused got the medical report changed to give an inconclusive result. She pointed out tampering with the medical report will help the culprits go unpunished for the grave sin they committed.  She told the media the accused were using their influence and putting pressure on her to make a deal in the case.

Sajida Bibi said her husband died a couple of years ago and her two daughters, including the victim, worked in a factory at Hattar Economic Zone and were the only bread earners of the family.

Sajida said she hailed from a poor family and had no contacts or money to pay bribes. She appealed to the chief justice of Peshawar High Court and IGP to intervene and constitute an independent medical board to look into the truth.

On Sunday the police registered a criminal case under sections 376, 34 and 511 of the PPC and took Saeed, Raja Yasir and Naveed for a two-day physical remand.

The police said the victim’s medical report revealed she was not raped but an attempt to rape was made.
