KARACHI:
The Sindh High Court (SHC) granted on Monday protective bail to three suspects arrested for manufacturing and selling spurious medicines.
The applicants, Umer Farooq, Ahmed Kuli Khan Khattak and Mohsina Ahmed Bilgrami, were directed to furnish surety in sum of Rs100,000 each and surrender before the trial court.
A drug inspector had registered a case against them, alleging that they three were involved in illegally manufacturing, selling and stocking spurious medicines. During a raid, samples of three types of tablets and capsules were seized from the suspects' factory.
The applicants claim that they are innocent and have not committed any act which amounts to be an offence. They alleged that the drug inspector has malafide intentions. The suspects' lawyer, advocate S Mohsin Imam Wasti, said that the applicants want to surrender before the trial court, but there is grave apprehension that they might be arrested.
