Intra-party polls: PTI organisers’ tenure ends on January 15
The rules and regulations for the contesting candidates will be made public in the first week of February
PESHAWAR:
The tenure of incumbent provincial and district organisers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf will end on January 15, just before intra-party polls.
According to a statement issued Saturday, the decision was made at a meeting of PTI election commission members, and regional and district coordinators at the party’s provincial secretariat. The meeting was chaired by PTI Chief Election Commissioner Tasneem Noorani. It was also attended by PTI K-P Chief Election Commissioner Rustam Shah Mohmand among others.
Before organisers step down, the provincial and district office holders will attend a training session on January 14 in which the election commission will brief them on a text message survey through which people can register themselves to be part of the party. As per the election commission, workers will be able to register themselves by sending their complete name and CNIC number on 90088 after which they will receive a confirmation message. The message will have to be forwarded on 8300, after which a confirmation SMS along with a block code will be sent to the applicant. The block code will then be sent to 90088 so the membership process is completed.
The PTI Election Commission has also set up a toll-free helpline on which applicants can call to ask about the registration process and status of their membership: 051-111-499-499.
The rules and regulations for the contesting candidates will be made public in the first week of February.
