Reasons unknown: Father of two commits suicide

HARIPUR:

A man committed suicide over unknown reasons in Khalabat Township in Haripur on Friday.

According to the police, Razia Bibi, a resident of Mohalla Kachi sector, reported her husband, Zahid Iqbal, 26, seemed depressed for the last couple of weeks before he decided to end his life.

She said Thursday afternoon, Iqbal went to sleep and asked her not to disturb him as he needed some rest. However, in the evening, when she went to their bedroom, he was really ill.

“She informed other family members who took him to the hospital but doctors pronounced him dead and said Iqbal had consumed a poisonous substance,” a police official told The Express Tribune.

Family sources said they found a wrapper beneath Zahid's bed that indicated he consumed anti-lice powder. According to the police, the deceased had two minor children. An FIR has been registered and investigation has begun.
