He said Shagufta Arshad and Munawwar Ali were contesting the post of library secretary.

Four candidates, Babar Shehzad Hashmi, Raja Bashir Ahmad Khan, Riaz Ahmad Khawaja and Gulzar Hussain Taqi are running for vice president of the bar association.

The spokesman said Azhar Hanif Khan, Asim Irshad Sheikh and Muhammad Raheel Zafar would contest the post of secretary while Rabia Habibur Rehman, Romana Uzma and Haji Ali Shehzad Targar were contesting the post of finance secretary. He said a 10-member executive committee of the bar had been elected unopposed.

Lawyers boycott courts

On Friday, lawyers boycotted courts as part of their weekly strike to press for a Lahore High Court bench in Faisalabad. They did not appear for scheduled hearings. In a statement, DPA president Malik Ayub Sialvi said an LHC bench was a constitutional right of the people of Faisalabad.

He said the people had been calling for the establishment of the LHC bench for many years. He said lawyers would continue their weekly strike until the bench was set up.
