Action taken: PIA unearths irregularities of Rs12m

The PIA management had zero tolerance for any kind of corruption

KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has detected irregularities worth approximately Rs12 million in the reconciliation process for travel agents for the period October 2014 to August 2015. A spokesman for the national flag carrier said on Thursday after preliminary inquiry, the involvement of a PIA official was suspected and the accused was taken into custody. During further investigation, he confessed to this involvement in embezzlement of funds. The case has been referred to the FIA for formal inquiry. The PIA management had zero tolerance for any kind of corruption and those responsible for causing a loss to the national airline and ruining its reputation would be dealt with according to the law, the spokesman added.
