Labour Minister Raja Ashfaq Sarwar on Tuesday paid a surprise visit to Shahdara’s Social Security Hospital.The Punjab Employees Social Security Institute (PESSI) Commissioner Mansoor Qadir also accompanied the minister. Sarwar inspected the hospital’s various departments including its OPD, medical store and administrative section. He also checked staff attendance records and inspected cleanliness standards. Sarwar also ascertained the provision of healthcare to insured labourers and their families.


The minister expressed satisfaction with the cleanliness and treatment standards being provided to patients at the facility. He also inspected the stock of medicines at the hospital and ordered the MS to ensure adequate supply of lifesaving drugs. The minister also directed the official to ensure that vacant positions at the facility were quickly filled to facilitate the provision of better healthcare to labourers.

Sarwar later distributed letters of admission among children of insured workers who had been accepted to medical colleges affiliated with PESSI. Their acceptances came with a full fee waiver.
