In a rather strange case, Faisalabad police on Monday said they had arrested at least three people on charges of abducting a cat belonging to a female Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist.
Imtiaz Asif, a resident of Nisar Colony, moved an application alleging her neighbours and their uncle had 'abducted' her cat, a police spokesperson told The Express Tribune.

The owner claimed the cat was 'extremely' precious and worth around Rs0.2 million, the spokesperson said. “The complainant said her cat was famous as it had participated in PTI’s 126-day long sit-in at D-Chowk in Islamabad in 2014,” he added.
“My neighbours are activists of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and when they offered me money to participate in their party gatherings along with my cat, I refused. Therefore, in retaliation, they stole my cat”, the complainant upheld in her application.

Asif said the police initially refused to register a case but did so after she moved a petition in a local court. Samanabad police station SHO confirmed the case and arrests of the accused, saying the case was still under investigation.
On the other hand, the accused have denied stealing the cat of the PTI activist, saying they are being victimised by the complainant because she holds a political grudge against them.
