13 killed, 2 injured in cylinder blast inside passenger van near Karak

Officials say women and children are among the dead

KARAK: At least 13 people were killed and two others were injured as a van caught fire after it overturned at the Alwargi area of Karak District on Sunday.

As per initial reports, two children and four women are among the dead.

Police and civil administration officials said the van was carrying members of the same family who were going to attend a wedding in Sadiq Abad Teri.

"One of the vans lost control and over turned," the official said.



According to officials, the van caught fire after the gas cylinder inside the vehicle exploded.

Moments after the tragic incident, the people in the procession rescued at least five persons who sustained burn injuries and shifted the injured and deceased to the hospital.
