One for education: Govt announces scholarships for orphans pursuing BS programmes
Students are important factor in nation-building, says Mushtaq Ghani
PESHAWAR:
The provincial government has announced scholarships for students who are orphans and wish to enrol in BS programmes at government colleges.
This was said in a handout issued on Saturday. According to the document, the announcement was made by Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Information and Higher Education Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani during the first convocation of Government Postgraduate College Mansehra.
The handout quoted Ghani as saying serious steps are being taken to upgrade the standard of government colleges.
Speaking on the occasion, Ghani said students are an important part of the nation-building process because of the capabilities they acquire from educational institutes.
“The government is putting all its efforts to counter the menace of terrorism [and considers] education [a] key element to combat it,” the handout quoted him as saying.
According to Ghani, the provincial government is committed to bring a positive change in all sectors and it is taking necessary steps to develop the province.
“Schools and universities in the province are being strengthened to conduct cutting-edge research on issues faced by society,” the document quoted Ghani as saying. “Solutions provided by such research must be cost-effective and sustainable.”
Ghani congratulated degree-holders, saying he hoped the college would continue to uplift the standards of education and produce educated citizens who can benefit society.
He also distributed degree certificates and gold medals among the students. He also announced that an auditorium and a hostel for girls would be constructed within the premises of the college.
