Week-on-week: SPI rises 0.09%

The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended January 1 registered an increase of 0.09% over the previous week for the lowest income group. The SPI for the group stood at 209.50 points against 209.31 in the previous week, according to provisional figures released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. The SPI for the combined income group rose 0.22% from 218.38 points in the previous week to 218.86 in the week under review. Compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for the combined income group rose 3.59%. During the week, average prices of 6 items fell in a selected basket of goods, prices of 18 items rose and rates of remaining 29 goods recorded no change.
