Horoscope: January 2, 2016

Your stars today

Aries | March 20 – April 19

One of your greatest strengths is your curiosity. You’ll explore an idea or make a point of getting to know somebody simply because doing so would broaden your horizons. Recently, however, commitments have prevented you exploring much of anything. Now, happily, you’ll have an opportunity to make up for lost time.

Taurus | April 20 – May 20

Only recently, you’d have said you’re happy to live with certain issues. This is in part because they’re not that bothersome. But, also, you’ve doubted others would be willing to discuss them in a civilised fashion. That could change. The coming days’ events could force them to do exactly that.

Gemini | May 21 – June 20

Long ago you learnt to ignore the advice of certain well-meaning individuals. They live in a different world than you do, and thus their guidance could actually take you in an unwise direction. Now, however, things are so unpredictable that even those who know you well could steer you wrongly.

Cancer | June 21 – July 22

Usually, planning ahead is the best way to impose order on even the most unruly situations. But with Mercury retrograde from Tuesday the 5th until the 25th, even minor errors are bound to create confusion. Ironically, what you learn from that will more than justify facing a little chaos.

Leo | July 23 – August 22

For ages you’ve suspected certain arrangements were being misrepresented. You’re about to learn how. In fact, not only has your ruler, the Sun, moved into one of the most practical angles of your chart, in a few days’ time it meets the uncompromisingly truthful Pluto. That will bring everything to light.

Virgo | August 23 – September 22

Although you have views about most of the matters currently being discussed, you’re urged to keep your thoughts to yourself. At least, for now. While you double check your facts, not everybody does. The resulting differences could lead to unnecessary conflicts, and about ideas and issues that really aren’t that significant.

Libra | September 23 – October 22

In early November the forthright Mars moved into Libra, beginning a period of initiative and the occasional confrontation. While you’ve accomplished a great deal, it’s been demanding. For this reason, you won’t be disappointed to learn that it’s about to depart, and with it, this exhausting cycle will come to a conclusion.

Scorpio | October 23 – November 21

Nobody likes the idea of refusing an intriguing offer. However, with powerful planetary activity in your sign shaking things up, you’ll also want to avoid making commitments you can’t change. The trick is to be clear you’re interested but, equally, to ensure others understand any arrangements you make are flexible.

Sagittarius | November 22 – December 21

As wonderful as it would be to say certain arrangements will last or that decisions are final, during periods as changeable as this, it’s unrealistic. At best, what you organise should be regarded as the beginning of a series of plans, ones that will evolve and reshape themselves over time.

Capricorn | December 22 – January 19

Planning ahead may be a virtue, but with Mercury retrograde from 5 January, and for most of that period positioned in Capricorn, even the simplest of arrangements are subject to change. Knowing that, ensure whatever you organise is flexible, enough that should alterations be necessary, you can make them easily.

Aquarius | January 20 – February 17

Having invested a lot of talk and enthusiasm into encouraging certain individuals to take the initiative, with virtually no results, you’re about to give up. Don’t. Bide your time for a few more days. Now that Mars has moved to accent them and their endeavours, there’s bound to be some action.

Pisces | February 18 – March 19

No sign likes a tale with a happy ending more than Pisces. Yet persistent tensions suggest that, in the short term anyway, you’ll just have to live with certain issues. Don’t even mention them. Tempting as it is to give an encouraging word here or there, it would be colossally unwise.
