Acting CEC: Appointment challenged in court
The court admitted a petition, filed by senior lawyer Raja Muhammad Hanif on behalf of Dr Najeeb Naqi and Tariq Farooq
MUZAFFARABAD:
The opposition party has challenged the appointment of acting chief election commissioner (CEC) of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). The AJK High Court admitted a petition, filed by senior lawyer Raja Muhammad Hanif on behalf of Dr Najeeb Naqi and Tariq Farooq, members of the Legislative Assembly of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz AJK chapter on Thursday. Hanif said that if the AJK HC Chief Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mughal was honest and credible then AJK government ought to appoint him the permanent CEC rather than acting.
