Horoscope: January 1, 2016

Your stars today

Aries | March 20 – April 19

Over the past month or so, events have focused your attention on certain close alliances, almost to the exclusion of everything else. While you’ve accomplished a great deal, practical matters have suffered. Now that your ruler Mars is moving to accent these, you’ll be able to make up for lost time.

Taurus | April 20 – May 20

Some say issues with others should be acknowledged and put to rest the moment they arise. As a peaceable Taurus, you’d rather wait until everybody feels ready to tackle any such matters. Not only is this wise, judging by early January’s unsettled planetary activity, those discussions had best wait until mid-month.

Gemini | May 21 – June 20

Planning ahead may be wise, but currently it’s tricky. Since early December, your ruler Mercury’s been in Capricorn. On the 2nd, it moves into Aquarius, then goes retrograde on the 5th, and on the 8th returns to the earthy, practical Capricorn. While, obviously, this is unsettling, you’ll learn a lot.

Cancer | June 21 – July 22

Sometimes minor mix-ups are no more than that. However, several are coming to a head, and many of them are the result of misunderstandings from the past that either weren’t acknowledged or were dealt with, but only in part. Knowing that, ensure this time, you get to the bottom of these.

Leo | July 23 – August 22

Every Leo knows certain individuals who are compulsive planners. You enjoy their company, as long as you carefully sidestep matters that involve how life should be organised. Clashes can be avoided only by gently but firmly changing the subject. Even the simplest of discussions will lead to a battle.

Virgo | August 23 – September 22

Obviously, every sign is influenced by the confusion sparked by Mercury’s retrograde cycle, which begins on the 5th. However, because it’s your ruling planet, you can worry about the errors it triggers or take issues too seriously. While most are disruptive, very rarely do they result in lasting or life-changing problems.

Libra | September 23 – October 22

Judging by the planetary activity of the coming week or so, while you’ll mark progress in several once-troublesome situations, even seemingly straightforward arrangements will be subject to change. Knowing that, ensure from the outset that whatever you plan or organise is flexible. It will make your life a lot easier.

Scorpio | October 23 – November 21

It takes the planet of courage, Mars, two years to go around the twelve signs, so its move into Scorpio begins a powerful new chapter. While in some cases it will give you exactly the boost you need to turn ideas into reality, it’s also about saying farewell to elements of the past.

Sagittarius | November 22 – December 21

If ever there was a time to ask questions, it’s now. While most of those you’re in touch with respond swiftly to your queries, certain individuals are annoyingly secretive. But now events are forcing them to be more open with others. You’re urged to take advantage of their more sociable mood.

Capricorn | December 22 – January 19

Everybody enjoys discussing new ventures. But when it comes to putting them into action, you’re usually you’re the one who makes the first step. Now, however, somebody else is taking the initiative and you find it unsettling. This is ironic, because you often complain others leave all the planning to you.

Aquarius | January 20 – February 17

Mercury’s move into Aquarius will clarify numerous issues. Act swiftly on what you learn, since it goes retrograde on the 5th and departs your sign on the 8th, not to return until mid-February. That may seem a long time, but this gives you plenty of opportunity to consider various intriguing options.

Pisces | February 18 – March 19

As a Piscean, it’s your habit to reflect on plans before you take action. This is so natural you don’t realise that sometimes you could just plunge in, especially when the situation is a straightforward one. Since that’s exactly what you’re dealing with at the moment, give it a try.
