Embezzlement: NAB arrests contractor, sub-engineer

The accused will be produced before accountability court in Peshawar for obtaining their physical remand

ISLAMABAD:

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials on Wednesday arrested Muhammad Aimal Khan, a contractor and son of former MNA Muzafarul Mulk, and Nisar Aziz, sub-engineer for their involvement in Rs57 million embezzlement.

According to NAB, contract for carrying out various development schemes in Mingora, Swat, were awarded to Khan, owner of National Builders by Pakistan Public Works Department (Pak-PWD) Batkhela. However, during investigation it transpired that contractor in connivance of the sub-engineer had committed grave illegalities in carrying out substandard work and showing ghost development projects executed as per record.

Aziz submitted a record of fictitious measurements of ghost and unexecuted or partially executed schemes and signed bogus entries in measurement books on the basis of which payments were made to the contractor.

The accused will be produced before accountability court in Peshawar for obtaining their physical remand.
