RAJANPUR/SARGODHA:

Khidmat Cards will be distributed among differently-abled people in various districts of the province on Tuesday (today). The idea is to assist and facilitate them in various ways.

In Rajanpur district, three facilitation centres for the differently-abled have been set up in Rojhan, Jampur and Rajanpur tehsils. The differently-abled will be issued their Khidmat Cards at these centres, DCO Zahoor Hussain Gujjar said in a meeting on Monday. The DCO said the recipients would be provided a pick-and-drop facility and would be given cards without any trouble.

In Sargodha, a ceremony will be held at the Commissioner’s Office on Tuesday to launch the Punjab Khidmat Card Programme in the district. Several differently-abled people would be given facilitation cards at the Commissioner’s Office.

A spokesperson of the district administration said on Monday that nearly 4,000 differently-abled people had been registered across the district.  He said three facilitation centres have been established at the Sargodha DHQ Hospital, the Bhalwal THQ hospital and the Sahiwal THQ hospital. He said more than Rs12 billion had been allocated for the facilitation of almost 200,000 differently-abled people in the province.

He said the cards would be issued on the spot after recipients furnished medical disability verification reports. The cards would be used like ATM cards and recipients can use them to withdraw Rs3,600 after three months.
