LAHORE:

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) provincial organiser Chaudhry Sarwar said on Monday the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) was trying to cover its corruption by opposing operations against the menace.

“The PTI will not let the PPP succeed in its efforts,” Sarwar said at a meeting with members of PTI Women’s Wing and Insaf Wing at the Chairman’s Secretariat.

The PTI leader stressed the need for continuing the operation against terrorism and corruption. He accused PPP leaders of trying to foil efforts aimed at ending corruption. “The PPP’s opposition to operations under the National Action Plan was a ploy to hide its corruption.”

Sarwar said the entire nation supported security institutions in the implementation of the National Action Plan against terrorism. He said corruption was no less dangerous than terrorism.
“The only difference between corruption and terrorism is the name we choose to assign them. Both are equally dangerous. Those involved in such activities are enemies of the country,” he said.

Sarwar said the nation was proud of the sacrifices rendered by Pakistan Army and the Rangers. He praised Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif as a hero in the country’s war against terrorism. He said that incidents of terrorism had significantly declined in the wake of Operation Zarb-i-Azb.

The PTI organiser also expressed concern over the rape of a 15-year-old girl in Lahore on Friday. “The incident is a slap in the face for the rulers. Women are not safe here,” he said. He demanded that the authorities ensure justice to the victim.
