Polio campaign: Vaccination under way in areas of FATA, K-P

The participants said they planned to convert refusals during the campaign

SWABI/ JAMRUD:


As many as 114,181 children will be administered polio drops during an eight-day campaign in Khyber Agency.


According to Assistant Political Agent Saiful Islam, 498 teams have been formed and will go door-to-door in Bazar Zaka Khel, Tirah valley and other areas to vaccinate the children. To ensure their safety, security has been amplified.


A ceremony was held in Jamrud tehsil in which Landi Kotal Tehsildar Khalid Khan, agency surgeons Dr Niaz Afridi and Dr Sher Khan Afridi, and polio workers spoke about the campaign. The participants said they planned to convert refusals during the campaign. Islam said strict action would be taken against those violating orders.


Meanwhile, the Swabi deputy commissioner imposed a ban on pillion riding and the display of weapons for a polio campaign in his district.
