Blind Cricket: Anees, Razzaq to lead Pakistan in India
PBCC names captain and coach for upcoming Asia Cup
KARACHI:
The Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) has announced the captain and team management of Pakistan Blind Cricket team for the upcoming 2016 Asia Cup T20 Blind Cricket Championship, which is scheduled to take place in India from January 17 to 24.
Anees Javed has been given the task of leading the team with Nisar Ali serving as his deputy. Meanwhile, the team will be coached by Abdul Razzaq, as per the PBCC announcement. Muhammad Bilal Satti will also be a part of the touring party as he has been named the team manager for the India tour. Among other announcements for the Asia Cup were Tahir Butt’s confirmation as trainer and Asif Azeem’s appointment as the media manager.
The PBCC was earlier forced to withdraw their participation for the event due to threats by India’s extremist group Shiv Sena against Pakistani actors, singers and sportsmen. But since some of the tension has subsided now, the board has decided to go ahead with their plans.
Asia Cup Withdrawal: PBCC urged to reconsider
The blind cricket team’s members are currently playing the PBCC Challenge Cup in Faisalabad, where five provincial teams are battling it out for the title.
