QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri has extolled the principles that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah adhered to and pledged to follow his vision of making Pakistan a peaceful country.
Like the rest of the country, the birth of Qauid-e-Azam was celebrated with nationalist fervour in Balochistan on December 25. The official ceremony was held at the Quaid’s Residency in Ziarat where Chief Minister Zehri hoisted the national flag on Friday.
Inspector General of Frontier Corps (IGFC) Major General Sher Afgun, Chief Secretary Saifullah Chattha, provincial ministers, tribal elders and students gathered in Ziarat to mark Jinnah’s birth anniversary.
“Our founding father Quaid-e-Azam had dreamed of a country where all nationalities and sects can live together in peace and harmony. He wanted to make Pakistan a welfare state,” the provincial chief minister added.
However, Zehri said, the country has been beset by a myriad of problems. “By following the principles of Quaid-e-Azam, we can bring peace, tranquillity and tolerance in our homeland.”
Lauding the sacrifices of law enforcement agencies and civilians in the province, Zehri dedicated his office to the martyrs of Balochistan.
“Since 2010, hundreds of civilians and personnel of armed forces have given their lives for Balochistan, with the support of our forces the provincial government is taking concrete steps to restore peace in the prvince,” he said.
IGFC Major General Sher Afgun said: “The Frontier Corps is standing on the front line of Balochistan’s security. Our soldiers are doing their best to secure the porous borders and we have prevented human trafficking and smuggling,” he said.
Citing the revamping of law and order measures, Maj Gen Sher Afgun said all the no-go areas in the province have been eliminated.
“The Frontier Corps has broken the backbone of terrorists in Balochistan and I am sure that they can’t regroup or disturb the peace,” IGFC Balochistan added.
Chief Minister Zehri announced Rs10 million for Ziarat district and Rs1.5 million for the students who participated in the Quaid’s Day ceremony.
