LAHORE: Race Course police have arrested six, including a hotel manager, on charges of sexually assaulting a teenage girl.

They said raids were underway to track down the seventh suspect identified in the FIR registered on a complaint filed by the girl’s mother.

The investigation officer (IO) said rape had been established in an initial medical examination of the girl, an eighth grade student, conducted at Services Hospital. However, he said samples had been sent to a forensic lab for further investigation.

The IO said the girl was found lying unconscious at a hotel on The Mall a day after she went missing from near her house in Rana Town, Multan Road. She had yet to regain consciousness by the time this report was filed.

The IO said the girl’s mother had received a text message from an unidentified cell phone number saying that her daughter was at the hotel.

The suspects held in connection with the case included the manager of the hotel.

In the FIR registered under Sections 376-II (punishment for rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Pakistan Penal Code, the girl’s mother stated that she had been kidnapped from on her way to a tailor’s shop near their house. She said she had received a text message on her cell phone a day later saying that the child was at a hotel on The Mall.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of the incident and sought a report on progress in investigation from the CCPO.
