Ali, who was a senior prosecutor in the Benazir Bhutto Murder case, was assassinated on May 3, 2013 while he was on his way to the anti-terrorism court in Islamabad to appear in the case.
According to a source, President Mamnoon Hussain will give the award to the widow of the former prosecutor on March 23 on the occasion of Pakistan Day.
When contacted, the son of the late Ali confirmed that the family has received a copy of the notification, which has recommended honouring the slain official. The late prosecutor had nominated former president Pervez Musharraf, DIG Saud Aziz and SP Khurram Shahzad and he was vigorously pursuing the case before he was killed.
