SHC indicts IG Sindh, eight other officers for contempt of court

KARACHI:
The Sindh High Court on Tuesday indicted Inspector General (IG) Sindh Police Ghulam Haider Jamali and eight other officers for contempt of court.

The court, under article 204, framed contempt charges against IG Jamali, former Karachi AIG Ghulam Qadir Thebo and other police officers over holding siege at the high court’s building twice.

IG eludes indictment once again


Further, while the court rejected unconditional apologies of IG Jamali and his subordinates, the officers pleaded not guilty and decided to contest charges levied against them.

Other policemen named in the case are DIG West Feroze Shah, City SSP Fida Hussain Janwari, Saddar SP Zeeshan Shafiq Siddiqui, SSU incharge Major (retd) Saleem, Legal AIG Faisal Bashir Memon, former SP Raees Abdul Ghani, West Headquarters SP Tahir Noorani, South DIG Dr Jamil Ahmed and SI Jahangir Mahar.

Earlier this month, IG Jamali, filed the third affidavit in the SHC pleading the opportunity of a hearing before he is charged with contempt.
