Crash Landing: CAA re-issued notice on pilot’s bail plea

Asmat Mahmood had crash landed a plane at the Allama Iqbal International Airport

LAHORE:
A division bench of Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday re-issued notices to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and Sarwar Road police on a bail petition filed by a pilot accused of flying an aircraft under the influence. The bench, headed by Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan, directed the prosecution to produce complete record of the case on December 29. Asmat Mahmood had crash landed a plane at the Allama Iqbal International Airport on November 3 allegedly under the influence of liquor. His counsel argued that he had to crash land the jet owing to a technical fault in the landing-gear. He said the pilot had no option but to crash land the plane to save passengers’ lives. He said the case was politically motivated.
