KARACHI:

The inaugural Sindh Women’s Boxing Championship will take place on January 13 at the People’s Stadium in Karachi.

According to Sindh Boxing Association secretary Asghar Baloch, the event will be a crucial turning point for the sport in Pakistan. “For the first time we’ll be holding a national women’s championship and this is a major breakthrough,” Baloch told The Express Tribune. “It’s a big event because we have female athletes who have been training at local clubs for months now and it is time to get in line with the AIBA rules. Female boxing is happening everywhere in the world except for Pakistan.”
