Rangers Power Extension: SHC seeks input from centre, Sindh

A similar petition is to be taken up for hearing on the same day

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) issued notices on Thursday to the federal and provincial governments on a petition seeking extension in policing powers for paramilitary Rangers in Karachi. A division bench, headed by SHC Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, directed the deputy attorney general and the Sindh advocate general to file by December 22 the comments of the defence ministry and provincial chief secretary, among other respondents. A similar petition is to be taken up for hearing on the same day.
