Transparency: PTI wants committee on CPEC funds

Sarwar said the committee should include members from both treasury and opposition benches

LAHORE:
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) provincial organiser Chaudhry Sarwar on Thursday demanded that a parliamentary committee be constituted to ensure that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects were completed transparently. Sarwar said an additional $1 billaion had been approved for three CPEC projects. Citing media reports, he said the cost of these projects had risen by 23 per cent. Sarwar said the committee should include members from both treasury and opposition benches He said the increase in the project cost should be investigated by the Supreme Court. “Those responsible for the hike should be held accountable,” he said.
