Lost and found: Stolen car, oil tanker recovered

Later, the police handed over both vehicles to the local police for further action

The National Highways and Motorway Police have recovered two stolen vehicles, said a press release here on Thursday.

The motorway police officers, SPO Naveed Siddique and PO Shamsul Haq, spotted a suspicious Suzuki Mehran (IRY-8844) near Kernal Sher Khan Interchange on M-1.

The officers searched the car and found the original number plate (IDN-9440) inside, along with a visiting card for Ahmed Siddique, a resident of Rawalpindi.

When they called the number on the card, Siddique said his car had been stolen two days ago and he had registered an FIR at Saddar Police Station.

In another incident, the motorway police were informed over the 130 Helpline that an oil tanker (K-2397) carrying 44,000 litres of fuel from Karachi to Chaklala Dry Port was stolen near Talagang.

NHMP officers located the oil tanker — which had been emptied. Later, the police handed over both vehicles to the local police for further action.
