The court declared the rest of the suspects proclaimed offenders and said they would be prosecuted once the police had arrested them.
The prosecution for the case said Naveed Commando and his accomplices Nafees, Anjum Niaz, Police Constable Muhammad Tahir, Ayaz and others had shot dead Asghar Ali alias Bhola Gujjar, the former Faisalabad market committee chairman, and his driver Siddique on January 9.
Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Raja Parvaiz Akhtar had sentenced Naveed Commando and Nafees to death on four counts in October. Anjum Niaz and Constable Tahir were sentenced to life imprisonment under Section 302-B of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
The anti-terrorism court had also sentenced the four convicts to two years imprisonment under Section 148 of Pakistan Penal Code (rioting, armed with dangerous weapons) and directed them to pay Rs2 million each as compensation and fine.
The court had declared the other suspects including Ayaz Bubbly and former Kotwali SHO Rana Farrukh Waheed as proclaimed offenders. Ayaz Bubbly was arrested by the Interpol in Dubai and was brought back to Pakistan for prosecution.
Judge Raja Parvaiz Akhtar on Thursday sentenced Ayaz Bubbly to life imprisonment on four counts under Section 302-B of Pakistan Penal Code and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA). He has also been directed to pay Rs1 million as fine and Rs1 million as compensation to the victims’ families.
The judge also sentenced Ayaz Bubbly to five years imprisonment and a fine of Rs100,000 under Section 21-L of the Anti-Terrorism Aact (absconding) and two years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs20,000 under Section 148 of the Pakistan Penal Code (being armed with dangerous weapons).
The remaining suspects in the case would be prosecuted after their arrest.
