RAWALPINDI:
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday handed down a death sentence to a man for kidnapping a 12-year-old boy and obtaining ransom for his release.

Judge Rai Muhammad Ayub convicted Rahimullah for kidnapping Abdul Ahad for ransom from Pirwadhai area in Rawalpindi.

The court found Rahimullah guilty and gave him death sentence on two counts. The court also ordered the confiscation of his movable and immovable assets.


The convict kidnappped Abdul Ahad and took him to Karachi. The Pirwadhai police on September 17, 2013 registered an FIR for the case.

The kidnapper made a phone call to Ahad’s family and sought Rs100,000 for his safe return. The kidnapper asked the family to send an initial Rs10,000 on his cell phone through a mobile banking service.

The police tracked down the kidnapper through his cell phone and arrested him in Karachi. The boy was recovered safely.
