Expressing solidarity: Legal fraternity marks ‘black day’
The under-trial prisoners were sent back to jail shortly after their arrival at the courts
KARACHI:
Legal proceedings remained suspended on Wednesday at the lower courts in the city as the lawyers observed a ‘black day’ to mark the first anniversary of Peshawar’s Army Public School attack in which 132 children were killed. The Karachi and Malir bar associations held sessions in memory of the deceased schoolchildren and urged that action against those who executed, abetted, and planned the ‘brutal’ act should be continued until the last terrorist is killed. Meanwhile, the courts wore a deserted look and hundreds of cases fixed at the subordinate judiciary could not be taken up for hearing. The under-trial prisoners were sent back to jail shortly after their arrival at the courts.
