Despite aggressive campaign against the crippling disease, a fresh poliovirus case surfaced in Karachi on Tuesday, taking the total to seven in the city, and 12 in the entire Sindh province, health officials said on Tuesday.
Seventeen-month-old son of Hukam Khan, who has contracted the virus, is a resident of the Gulshan-e-Noor area of Gulshan-e-Iqbal town.

Officials say the family is Pashto-speaking, and the child was never vaccinated.
