Security concerns: Polio campaign in Korangi delayed

KARACHI:

Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui deferred the on-going polio campaign in Korangi due to lack of security.

The health officials complained that security is yet to be provided to the polio teams. Siddiqui also issued a memo to a taluka health officer and show-cause notices to two lady health workers for negligence during the drive. He presided over a meeting at the Commissioner Office on late Monday night. The four-day drive started on December 13 and will continue till December 17. Initially, the campaign was commenced in three districts, including district Korangi, district South and district Central, but after two days, the drive in Korangi town was deferred.
