The 11th three-day annual Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally will begin in Cholistan desert near Derawar Fort on February 12, Tourism Development Corporation Punjab (TDCP) Managing Director Ahmar Malik said on Tuesday.

The event was previously scheduled to start on February 19. Malik said they had changed the date of the event in consultation with organisers, car racers and the Bahawalpur administration. He said they would also improve some of the facilities.

Special attention would be paid to ensure uninterrupted supply of water, food and essential items, he said.

The number of portable washrooms would also be increased, accommodation for participants would be improved and communication facilities would be provided, he said. There will also be arrangements for proper media coverage.

TDCP Multan Zonal Manager Ashar Iqbal Malik said work on race track identification and preparation would begin in January.

He said a large number of people were expected to participate in or watch the mega recreational event. Registration of drivers will start at the TDCP Multan office after approval from higher-ups.
