ECC’s Nod: Sugar to be exported in phases
The ECC has also approved Rs13 per kg as partial support for incidentals and freight for the export of sugar
ISLAMABAD:
The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet, in its meeting held recently and chaired by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, approved the export of 500,000 tons of sugar in a phased manner till March 31, 2016, an official says. In the first phase, 200,000 tons will be exported till December 31, 2015 and by the end of January an additional 150,000 tons will be shipped. The remaining quantity will be exported by the end of March. The ECC has also approved Rs13 per kg as partial support for incidentals and freight for the export of sugar. Only those mills will be allowed to export which have cleared outstanding dues of the farmers by the end of the last season and have started crushing on full scale.
