KARACHI:

The repair work of the water pipeline, which burst on Saturday afternoon, will be done by Tuesday [today] , said local government minister Jam Khan Shoro. “The supply of water will be resumed the same day.”

Shoro visited the site of the 84-inch diameter pipeline in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. He said that a committee has been formed to investigate the reason for the incident. The pipeline incident caused a loss of 100 million gallons per day, after which the commissioner started a free water tanker service for the citizens.

During Shoro’s visit, Karachi Water Sewerage Board (KWSB) managing director Misbahuddin Fareed spoke about the repairs on the pipeline in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 10.

According to KWSB chief engineer Sikander Ali Zardari, the inspection of the six-kilometre-long pipeline will be done to find any leakage from the inside. Shoro directed KWSB officials to improve the water supply in Karachi. He added that an alternate system will be launched to overcome such situations in the future.
