LAHORE:

The construction of Liberty Market-Qurtaba Chowk signal-free corridor has entered its final phase. The finishing layer will be laid and the project completed during the winter vacation at city’s education institutes, The Express Tribune has learnt.

Meanwhile, work on construction of the flyover connecting Gulberg’s Main Boulevard to the Lahore Cantonment was still underway, said Habib Construction Services (HCS) CEO Shahid Saleem. He said the construction of the flyover would be completed in the mid of January.

Saleem said an asphalt layer had been laid on the road along the length of the corridor. He said work on a finishing asphalt layer had been set aside for the winter vacations week. It would take less time to finish the job during the winter vacation because of the thiner traffic on Jail Road, he said.

Regarding the flyover, Saleem said most of the work would be completed by end of December but it would be opened for traffic by January 15. He said work on the flyover would have been completed at a quicker pace had it been started before the underpass at the same intersection.

Meanwhile, the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has started landscaping work at the green belts and some points along the signal-free corridor.
