KARACHI: Majid Aslam, 25, tied the knot at the National Institute of Cardio Vascular Diseases (NICVD) on Friday a few days after he was admitted for a cardiac arrest.

Aslam felt chest pains soon after his mehndi ceremony on Wednesday night. Since he lives in Nazimabad No. 3, he was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital from where he was referred to the Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases, where he was given electric shocks.

He was then referred to the city's largest cardiac facility, NICVD, as the doctors deemed his condition serious. "The young man suffered from a severe heart attack," said Dr Malik Hameedullah Khan, the administrative executive at NICVD. Majid underwent an angioplasty on Thursday, he added. "He is out of danger now." Majid got the new life and the attack could have been fatal if he was not shifted to the facility on time, the doctors claimed.

After his successful angioplasty, the family requested the hospital administration allow them to hold his Nikah ceremony, shared Dr Khan. "The Nikah date was fixed for Friday," he said. "We allowed them to arrange the ceremony in a simple way without disturbing the hospital environment."
