Hung Up: Damages sought over ‘defective’ phone

Ahmed refused to replace it or refund the money

LAHORE: A consumer court issued a notice on Friday to a cell-phone dealer in a Rs1 million suit over sale of an allegedly defective handset to the petitioner. Muhammad Irfan submitted that a cell phone bought from Ishaq Ahmed for Rs12,000 had malfunctioned a few days after the transaction. He said Ahmed had assured him that he would be responsible for any fault in the phone. He said he had taken the phone to Ahmed who repaired it. However, he said it had again stopped working and when he took it to Ahmed he refused to replace it or refund the money.
