Under suspicion: Over 70 suspects detained in Shabqadar

About 2,000 Afghan families, from Kabul and Nangarhar in Afghanistan, settled there

SHABQADAR:
Over 70 suspects were arrested in a search operation at refugee camp on Munda-Shabqadar Road. A police official said the operation was held early Thursday morning. Shabqadar police and other law-enforcement agencies cordoned off the camp and continued with the search operation for about two hours. Police officials further added five among the suspects were detained under Section 14 of The Foreigners Act, and will be deported to Afghanistan, while investigation into 65 others is under way. “Those who are guilty will be treated according to the law while those who are found innocent will be set free,” said an official. Munda camp is an old refugee camp established when refugees from Afghanistan first arrived in Pakistan in the early 80s. About 2,000 Afghan families, from Kabul and Nangarhar in Afghanistan, settled there.
