Urges international investment in the mining sector

Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led government has spread out the red carpet for investors and bid farewell to red-tapism.
He pointed out it was time for reciprocation and he urged investors to contribute to the minerals sector, according to a handout issued on Thursday. While addressing the K-P Mineral Conference and Exhibition 2015 in Islamabad, he said investment in the sector would open new windows of opportunity for the whole region, including Central Asian republics, South Asia and the Gulf.
PTI Chairperson Imran Khan and Minister for Mineral Development Anisazeb Tahirkhieli also spoke on the occasion. The exhibition was inaugurated by QWP Chairperson Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao. A large number of investors from all over the world participated.
Chief Secretary Amjid Ali Khan was also in attendance.
The chief minister said he was eager to see the international community’s contribution to large scale mining activities. He added transparency, ease of doing business, simplified policy and procedures, legal framework support, and incentives in the mineral, oil and gas sectors were positive signals being sent out by the K-P government to investors. Khattak said the government was cognizant of the integration of the mining sector with overall economic growth and social development, especially of directly related communities.
The CM added new plans for China-Pakistan Economic Corridor could serve as a catalyst in exploitation of the mineral potential of
the province.
