KARACHI: Sindh law secretary Mir Muhammad Shaikh, who is a retired judge and was working on contract, resigned from his post on Thursday. A senior official in the law department said that Shaikh had already gone on leave about a month ago following his failure to satisfy the provincial government, especially Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leadership to pursue Dr Asim Hussain’s case. “Dr Asim was in Rangers custody for 90 days and PPP co-chairperson wanted all government machinery to help secure bail to his best friend and provide relief to him,” claimed the official. Though the chief minister attempted to convince him to resume the office work, he has now resigned. Despite many attempts, Shaikh could not be contacted. Meanwhile, the CM House spokesperson termed it a routine matter and said that Shaikh resigned due to personal matters.
