Milestone: Veterinary facility at zoo completed

Khan said the facility at Lahore’s Safari Zoo Park had been completed at a cost of Rs40 million

Wildlife and Parks Punjab Director General Khalid Ayaz Khan said on Wednesday that the nation’s first veterinary hospital located at a recreational spot had been completed. The DG made the remarks while chairing a meeting convened to review progress on works underway. Khan said the facility at Lahore’s Safari Zoo Park had been completed at a cost of Rs40 million. He said the hospital would start functioning after the provision of requisite staff, equipment and medicines had been made certain. The DG said the facility, spread over two acres, would facilitate the treatment of animals in need of medical attention. He said the hospital would be in a position to carry out blood tests, X-rays and ultrasounds. The DG said it would also have a dispensary. Khan said the department would next focus on artificial breeding of wild animals. He said the department had also been striving to initiate a mobile service to facilitate the provision of immediate assistance to animals across wildlife parks and spots province-wide.
