BAHAWALPUR:
Police have focused efforts on cracking down on organised crime in Bahawalpur, Organised Crime DSP Mian Arshad said on Wednesday. He said they had launched an operation against drug rings and human traffickers. Arshad said they had arrested Javed, the notorious leader of a drug racket, who was believed to be the main heroin supplier in the district. Police had seized 300 pouches of heroin, four kilogrammes hashish and Rs130,000 from him. Police had also cracked down on Papoo’s Dera, an infamous brothel. The DSP said a police team had raided the dera and arrested Fayyaz, who apparently had been in charge of running the brothel. Several girls, who had ostensibly been kidnapped from Okara and Chogata Arain in Islampura, Bahawalnagar, were taken into custody.
