Polio count reaches 50 with latest case confirmed from Fata

PESHAWAR:
With a fresh poliovirus case reported from Khyber Agency on Wednesday, the number of cases in the country this year has risen to 50.

According to officials from the National Institute of Health Islamabad, the new case was reported from Mirdad Khel area of the Agency, where officials dealing with polio eradication confirmed Sanaullah, son of Namdar, was affected.

The 24-month old boy was reported by the health authorities on November 13, following which stool samples were collected and sent to Islamabad for authentication.

“We have received the report and the lab tests have confirmed Sanaullah is carrying the virus,” a senior health official told The Express Tribune.
